Michael J. Keefer, OD, PA
Dr. Keefer grew up in Hays, Kansas. He graduated from Hays High School in 1979. In 1980, he successfully completed the US Army's Optical Laboratory Technician's School in Denver, Colorado. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1985. He attended Fort Hays State University and graduated in 1984. After graduation, he attended the University of Houston College of Optometry and graduated with honors in 1988. After practicing in El Paso, Texas for several years, Dr. Keefer bought Dr. Jon Thayer's practice in Belleville in 1990 and continues to practice there. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Kansas Optometric Association.
He has been married to his wife, Maria, for 21 years. They have two children. Lauren, 18, attends the University of Kansas and Kelsey, 16, is a junior at Republic County High School. He enjoys outdoor activities, including motorcycles, mountain biking, hiking, and backpacking.
